There's something special about a fall fair. The smell of fresh-baked pie drifting through the grounds. Kids lined up at the midway. Neighbours catching up while admiring prize-winning livestock. These are the moments that bring our communities together, and at Salus Mutual, we're proud to be part of them.
Fall fairs are so much more than a weekend outing. They’re a celebration of everything that makes rural Ontario what it is. They honour our agricultural roots, showcase local talent and hard work, and create a space where generations can connect. For many families, fair weekend is a tradition passed down through the years.
Across our region, each fair brings something unique to the table. Livestock and 4-H competitions encourage young people to develop leadership skills and take pride in their achievements. Homecraft exhibits display everything from hand-stitched quilts and woodworking to preserves and pies. Tractor pulls, horse shows, and equipment displays honour the tools and traditions that continue to support our farming families. And of course, there are the parades, midway attractions, and live entertainment that create lasting memories for visitors of all ages.
Then there are the beloved pie auctions, where homemade creations spark friendly bidding wars — all in support of local initiatives. If that isn't the spirit of our rural communities in action, we don't know what is.
We're proud to support several fairs across our region, including Glencoe, Wallacetown, Rodney, Shedden, Highgate, and Aylmer. Each one reflects the character of its community, and each one gives us the chance to give back to the neighbours we serve.
As a mutual insurer, supporting these events is part of who we are. It's an opportunity to celebrate our agricultural heritage, invest in the next generation, and help ensure these beloved annual gatherings continue for years to come.
